This department has as a main task of facilitating business development throughout the county, which is an important part of the county’s role as a regional developer. Through partnerships with a wide range of players in the county, we are helping in creating new jobs and new businesses, while further developing existing businesses. We work closely with the municipalities in the county and with Innovasjon Noreg to assure prosperity to businesses and entrepreneurs.
 
Business development depends on many factors, reflected in our duties and in our expertise in the business department. We have a department with a broad range of professionals, for example in tourism, aquaculture/fisheries, agriculture and renewable energy, able to council county politicians and help formulate industrial policies. Responsibilities of the department fall under the main committee for the planning and industry sectors.
